The fake degree scam involving Jodhpur National University (JNU) has taken panIndia proportions, as the police investigations reveal the racket providing fake marks-sheets was spread across north India, West Bengal and Karnataka.
The Special Operations Group of the police, which is investigating the scam, suspected role of some other educational institutions in the scam, which has roots in Rajasthan.

Task Force sleuths arrested two persons on Monday for fabricating education certificates at Kanchanbagh and Santoshnagar.
Police arrested Qutubuddin Khan, the owner of a photocopy centre, and Abdul Khadeer, a private tutor. Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force team arrested Abdul Khadeer at My Friends Hotel at Kanchanbagh and seized several fake mark sheets for various courses affiliated to Osmania University, and also fake memos for SSC and Board of Intermediate.

The Mansa police on Saturday busted a fake degree racket allegedly being run by Global Open University, Nagaland, through its counselling centres and franchises.

Woman politician, 2 aides held for fake law degree
Police on Sunday arrested a functionary of Pattali Makkal Katchi's women's wing for swindling lakhs of rupees from would-be advocates, selling them fake law degrees they claimed universities in the northern states had issued.
Investigators also arrested one of her accomplices, V Ganesh Prabhu, who procured fake seals of different universities, and a customer, Arun Kumar, who purchased a bogus degree from her.
